Senior Citizens Volunteering
Have you retired? The children have left the nest? Looking for something to do in your spare time?
One of the most important options for senior citizens is to volunteer and give of their free time in a variety of areas in the community.
The municipal program "Volunteering with Joy" is under the leadership of the municipal Volunteer Unit and the Department for Senior Residents in the Welfare Division, Community Services Administration.
The goal of the program is to promote the value of volunteering among senior citizens and to introduce it as part of an active and meaningful way of life.
We invite you, the senior residents of Jerusalem, to take part in the various fields of volunteering that exist in the city, to contribute your time and life experience to the community and get satisfaction at the same time.
For more details about the program, you may call 02-6297003, or e-mail: email@example.com.
Volunteers working in the municipal Volunteer Unit are entitled to free training sessions, study days, and insurance, and receive a municipal volunteer card that provides various benefits and participation in local and national ceremonies and events.
In addition to maintaining health, volunteering also offers significant additional returns to the life of the pensioner: reducing loneliness and increasing social involvement, raising self-worth and a sense of meaning and ensuring that he/she continues to contribute to society and the economy.
