Volunteering with Holocaust Survivors
In the framework of the activities of the Senior Residents’ Division of the Welfare Department, a volunteer project is being implemented with the population of isolated Holocaust survivors living in Jerusalem.
Today, 10.800 Holocaust survivors live in Jerusalem, and there is an urgent need to recruit additional volunteers. The goal of volunteering is to reduce the loneliness of Holocaust survivors through social contact, while providing assistance for other personal needs.
Volunteers operate on a long-term volunteer basis - frequent visits on a weekly basis for social purposes. In the framework of the meetings, a significant connection is hopefully made for both partners, including conversation, reading, playing, taking walks, and more, as well as writing and documenting historical testimony - a first-hand life story. Coordinating meetings will be according to the convenience of both sides.
