The winner of the 2023 Jerusalem Marathon was Noah Kigen Kiprotich from Kenya with a time of 2:18:13
Today, Friday March 17, 2023, the Jerusalem Winner Marathon was held for the 12th time.
About 40,000 people participated in the event, including about 30,000 who ran along the breathtaking route that, among other sites, passed by the Knesset, the Old City walls, the Sultan's Pool, Mishkenot Shaananim, Mount Zion, the German Colony, Rehavia, the Armon HaNatziv promenade , Ammunition Hill, Sacher Park, Mount Scopus and the Mount of Olives. This year about 2,700 runners from 72 countries participated in the marathon.
Among the many runners was the Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Lion, who participated in the 10 km race wearing the number '10'. "Since its establishment more than a decade ago, the Jerusalem Marathon has become a professional sports event providing a memorable experience for male and female runners in Israel and around the world. I am proud that we were able to hold it with great success. Jerusalem prepared itself today and provided the push for participants of all ages, who came to take part in the largest sports event in the country in the sports capital of Israel. I congratulate the Marathon runners and wish everyone a happy Marathon holiday. See you at the next Marathon on March 8, 2024," the Mayor said.
The winner of the 12th Winner Jerusalem Marathon was Noah Kigen Kiprotich, 34 years old from Kenya, with a time of 2:18:13.
In second place was Chakib Achgar Iatrache, 34 years old from Spain, with a time of 2:25:45. In third place was Gamber Melakmo, 38 years old from Israel, with a time of 2:28:30.
Among the women, Margaret Njuguna, 54 years old from Kenya, finished in first place with a time of 2:52:44. In second place was Elena Tolstykh, 39 years old from Russia, with a time of 2:55:31. In third place was Noa Berkman, 34 years old from Israel, with a time of 2:59:12.
The Jerusalem Winner Marathon consisted of six races: a full marathon (42.195 km), a half marathon (21.1 km), a 10 km race, a 5 km race and a 1.7 km family race.
The Jerusalem Winner Marathon is the most socially orientated marathon in Israel, and this year had a special 800-meter race in which thousands ran for various social organizations partnering with the Marathon.
The prize for first place in the full marathon was $3,750, with $2,500 for second place and $1,250 for third place.
