The Senior Citizens Department in the Jerusalem Municipality is working to improve the quality of life of older residents - both for the active aged and the aged whose situation has changed - for example, there has been a functional decline or a decrease in income. The main goal is to maintain a system that supports the aged in a variety of areas, such as culture and leisure, courses and enrichment, employment, housing, social centers, recreation and volunteering. The Department works in conjunction with municipal divisions and other private and government organizations.
