You can do something about gender-based violence!
A GUIDE WITH TIPS ON HOW TO DEAL WITH SITUATIONS IN WHICH YOU WITNESS OR FEAR VIOLENCE
This year, on The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, it is important for to us to emphasize our role as friends, relatives, neighbors, service providers or even passersby, when we suspect we have encountered violence.
Sometimes there is real concern, but a feeling of helplessness or a fear of intervening (a fear for ourselves or of escalating the situation) prevents us from responding or helping. This year, we at the Jerusalem Municipality suggest that there is something to do. There is a way to help – both during the incident and afterwards. Whether we have witnessed something or something has happened to us.
We would like to thank the various bodies that collected these tips over the years through ongoing cooperation: the Jerusalem Rape Crisis Center, “Lila Tov”, knowing how to make the right choice, the El HaLev association, Na’amat Jerusalem and WIZO Jerusalem.
It was produced by the Department for the Advancement of Women, the Society Division, the Social Culture and Leisure Administration, the Welfare Department, and the Community Administration.
If you have witnessed signs of gender-based violence, call the Municipality's 106 hotline, extension 5.
