Halting of light rail service between Mount Herzl and the Central Station

For two months, starting Wednesday, June 22, 2022

The halting of service is intended for the creation of an intersection of the Red and Green lines at the intersection of Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Street and Herzl Boulevard.

An alternative bus system will operate and be available to light rail passengers from Mount Herzl to the Central Station, via lines 20, 21, 23, 24, 27 and 29, whose routes will be extended to reach the Central Station. The frequency of the lines along these routes will be increased.

Changes in bus stop locations at the Mount Herzl Station complex:

  • Lines 20, 24, 27 and 29 going towards the Central Station will stop at the western platform, which is currently being used to collect passengers traveling to the neighborhoods.
  • The lines going towards Hadassah Ein Kerem and the city's southwestern neighborhoods will stop at the eastern platform, which is currently only being used to drop off passengers.

Travel routes heading towards the Central Station

  • The lines will travel along Herzl Boulevard
  • The bus stops will be next to the light rail stations
  • The Central Station bus stop will be on Jaffa Street, next to the light rail station
  • A bus stop will be added at the Shaare Zedek/Jaffa stop, near the Mahane Yehuda market

Travel routes heading towards Mount Herzl

  • The lines will travel along the following route: Shazar Boulevard, Herzl Boulevard, Ish Shalom Street, Yefe Nof Street, Herzl Boulevard
  • Lines 20, 21, 23, 24 and 29 (all lines except Line 27) will stop at the Shaare Zedek/Jaffa bus stop, near the market
  • Passengers going to the Central Station and Binyanei Hauma: a bus stop will be added on Shazar Boulevard, opposite Binyanei Hauma
  • Passengers going to Kiryat Moshe: bus stops will be added at the Chords Bridge stop and at the temporary bus stop on Mount Herzl opposite the hotels
  • Passengers going to HeHalutz Street: lines will stop at the Ish Shalom/Faberstien bus stop, near Haft Square.
  • Line 23 for passengers going to Denya Square: the bus will travel via Beit Hakerem Street (near the HeHalutz bus stop) and Denya Square (near the existing bus stop)
  • Passengers going to Yefe Nof:
  • Line 23 to Ramat Sharet and Line 27 to Hadassah Ein Kerem will stop at the bus stop next to Yad Sarah
  • Lines 20, 23, 24 and 29 to the city's southwestern neighborhoods will stop at the temporary bus stop located at the intersection of Yefe Nof Street and Megadim Street.

Pedestrians are asked to be extra careful, to pay attention to changes in the direction of bus traffic and to ensure they cross the street safely.
