"World Cup at the Bar" kicking off in Jerusalem

The knockout stages of the 2022 Qatar World Cup will be screened live at bars and pubs, with in-person play-by-play and commentary by top sportscasters

The Municipality of Jerusalem, via the Ariel company, will hold "World Cup at the Bar", an event in which it will screen the knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar at selected bars and pubs in the center of the city, with live, in-person play-by-play and commentary by some of the best sportscasters in Israel.

The event, which will be held from December 3 to 18 – starting with the first game of the Round of 16, and ending with the final – offers residents of Jerusalem and visitors an attractive World Cup viewing experience while boosting businesses in the center of the city, including the bars and pubs.

Those who will take part in "World Cup at the Bar" include some of Israel's leading sportscasters, such as Shlomo Scharf, Giovanni Russo, Yonatan Cohen, Ron Kaufman, Liran Schechner, Sharon Davidovich, Omri Afek, and Motti Pshehatzki.

At all of the venues, each game will be shown on a giant screen with an announcer and a commentator providing coverage from start to finish.

Among the bars and pubs participating in the event are Shoshana, Abraham Jerusalem, Dublin, HaSchena, Hatza'atzua, Nocturno, Bab al-Yemen, Blaze, Generation (previously named Putin), Biratenu, Gent,  Hetzi Tuki, and Beit HaVa'ad.

Additional details are available on the municipal website.

The mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, said "The World Cup is a giant and colorful celebration for all football fans around the world. We are making a major upgrade of the event for the fans, residents of Jerusalem. The wonderful initiative of "World Cup at the Bar" will host the best announcers and sports commentators for the screening of the World Cup at bars and pubs around the city, and (those businesses) will also benefit from an increased number of customers. We invite everyone to come – the ball is in your court."
