Summer is approaching, and the umbrellas are back!
The umbrella installation returns to Yoel Moshe Solomon Alley
The Municipality of Jerusalem, through municipal companies "Ariel" and "Eden", recently set up the city's traditional display of umbrellas in Yoel Moshe Solomon Alley.
The installation, with 1,000 umbrellas, was hung from the beginning of the street, from Cats Square to the "HaMashbir" building, at a height of 7 meters above the ground.
The umbrella installation is an old Jerusalem tradition that heralds the beginning of summer, and is an attraction for the city's residents and tourists. According to the plan, additional installations will be placed throughout the city in the coming months in order to refresh the appearance of public spaces as well as encourage people to visit the city center, including businesses in the area.
The Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Lion, said "Our city of Jerusalem is being renewed for the summer, and thus the public space is being renewed with the umbrella installation, which has become a symbol of Jerusalem. The umbrellas are the first sign of an enjoyable summer for the city's residents and visitors, with extensive cultural activity, unique performances, sports events and many other unique activities."
