A word from the Mayor for Holocaust Memorial Day
We miraculously commemorate the victims, their stories, and their heroism
Eighty years have passed since the Nazi carnage machine began to realize the idea of horror for the extermination of the Jewish people.
Eighty years, and we still go unanswered in the face of poignant questions that we will never let go
- What causes a person to behave so cruel and evil towards others?
- How has hatred and prejudice blinded the eyes of tens of thousands of people?
No answers have been found to these questions, but we have an answer that will ensure that it does not happen again: the State of Israel and its capabilities - military, strategic, scientific, economic - are the promise that it does not. there will be another Holocaust.
On Holocaust Memorial Day, we will miraculously commemorate the victims, their moving stories, their heroism and the strengths of their souls.
In a deep commitment to remember and never forget, a series of ceremonies and events are held on this day throughout the city and in educational institutions, placing the stories of the survivors and their heroism at the center. .
Like every day of the year, we will stay on this day, close to the survivors of the Holocaust. Our commitment to them is unprecedented.
Our spirit is not broken, our people are alive and well. Our people in Israel, and in its eternal capital in particular, are the best proof of this.
May the memory of the six million people be blessed and preserved in our hearts forever and ever
