The Jerusalem Municipality has approved the construction of an employment complex in Umm Tuba
The local committee for planning and construction recommended a plan for a new employment area in the Umm Tuba neighborhood.
The program was promoted by the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, through the East Jerusalem Development Company, as part of an overall move to improve the supply, level and variety of places of employment for the Arab population of the city. The plan is located in the southern neighborhoods of Tzur Baher and Umm Tuba, on Road 398 leading to northern Gush Etzion.
As part of the planning, a new approach to the neighborhood will be made, and a construction of almost 90,000 square meters is proposed for commercial use, employment, light industry and workshops. The plan also includes a gas station.
Much thought has been given to creating a space that will be pleasant to be in, including walkways, gardens as well as open public spaces. The area will also be able to incorporate a college for technological training.
