Renovation of Elmaliah park

In the presence of the mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Lion.

The park’s inauguration is part of the completion of infrastructure work for the light rail Malha Line tunnel passing under the park, which will begin operating in 2024.

The park, which is next door to the Jerusalem Pais Arena, covers about 45 dunams and was established for the benefit of residents as part of the light rail infrastructure work.

As part of the completed work, a new 240-meter-long tunnel was built next to the Pais Arena, through which the train will cross Elmaliah Park on the lower level and move along the new bridge constructed at the end of the park, until reaching Dov Yosef Street.

The renovated Elmaliah Park, inaugurated today as part of the project, is one of the largest and most spectacular parks recently established in the city, after having served as a public space for many years.

The upgraded park includes spacious lawns, woods and Israeli trees, recreation areas, advanced and unique play facilities, shading, sitting areas, street furniture, public toilets, walking and cycling paths and more. In addition, the project also included the renovation and upgrading of infrastructure, installation of new lighting, decorative flooring and development.

The festive inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Mayor Moshe Lion, Municipality General Manager Itzik Larry, Master Transportation Director General Plan Zohar Zoller, Moria CEO Gilad Bar-Adon, and representatives of the Ministry of Transportation, the Municipality, the Transportation Master Plan and the neighborhood residents.

Elmaliah Park was designed as part of the light rail infrastructure work, under the management of the Transportation Master Plan team and the Sistra D.E.L. Group, with landscaping design by Shlomo Aronson Architects, and in collaboration with Moria during the execution stages.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion: “May we continue to renew! Elmaliah Park opens its gates to our city’s beloved residents. Many resources have been invested in the park in order to turn it into a green gem for the benefit of Jerusalem’s residents and children. Much attention and resources were invested in the park as part of the work to complete the light rail that will serve us all. Come and enjoy this amazing park.”

Moriah CEO Gilad Bar-Adon: “Moriah continues to realize Jerusalem’s future public transportation map, with the promotion of the construction of the light rail system in the city, while building urban development projects such as the renovated Elmaliah Park for the benefit of Jerusalem’s residents and children.”

Zohar Zoller, CEO of the Transportation master Plan team: “Elmaliah Park was designed to benefit residents as part of the light rail project. The construction of the park, under which the light rail will pass, is testimony to the transportation and urban revolution that is reflected in the planning of the light rail network in the city.”
