By the end of 2019, a special dog-releasing complex will be inaugurated in Baba Sally Street. The area will be about half an acre and will include play facilities for dogs, shaded seating areas for their owners, lawn, signage, custom faucets and more.
The work will be carried out by the Horticultural Department in the Jerusalem City Improvement Division. The construction of the garden was prompted by the neighborhood residents' request to open a dog-free enclosure, and was done jointly through the Community Center.
Across Jerusalem, there are 23 complexes in gardens and parks for releasing dogs. In addition, the municipality will soon upgrade dog-release sites in Denia Park and Gan HaShlosha in the French Hill.
Mayor Moshe Leon: "Complexes for releasing dogs in parks will improve the quality of the environment for both residents and dogs. Undoubtedly, the construction of the complexes will result in better service for residents, more enjoyment of the public space, and especially for a particularly high quality of life."
The Horticultural Department is currently coordinating applications for the establishment of dog leashes within the framework of the 2020 work plan. It should be noted that the topic of establishing dog leasing sites is in the urban priorities and in each new project of the Horticultural Department, the possibility of integrating a dog leasing complex is being considered.
