Another Corona Ward Approved in East Jerusalem
Important news for residents of East Jerusalem: this morning (Wednesday, 7.10) the opening of an additional corona ward at St. Joseph’s Hospital was approved.
The approval is the result of the great efforts of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion opposite National Corona Coordinator Ronni Gamzu and the Ministry of Health to raise the budget required for opening the ward, around NIS 1.6 million, in order to strengthen the hospital, which provides service to Jerusalem residents.
The opening of the new ward will increase the hospital’s ability to provide optimal care for its patients, will ease congestion in other hospitals in the city and will also allow patients to be treated in Jerusalem without the need for hospitalization in hospitals outside of the city, in order to ease the burden on families and patients.
The ward will hold 25 beds, a full medical staff, and will be equipped with all the necessary means, including respirators, all meeting Ministry of Health standards. It should be noted that the Jerusalem Municipality considers the hospitals in East Jerusalem an integral part of the medical services provided to the city’s residents, and will continue acting and assisting them with all the tools at its disposal.11/10/2020
