At the basis of the service model, the municipal prosecutor is authorized to cancel fine payment notices, to cancel or reduce the additional fees for delay for a fine that was not paid on time, subject to the rationale and conditions of the law.
In addition, the Municipal Prosecution Unit serves as the authority for the enforcement of the Local Authority for criminal offenses such as: planning and construction, environmental protection, business licensing, parking, by-laws, etc.
The powers of the Legal Advisor to the Municipality are set forth in the Local Authorities Law (Legal Advice), 5736-1975, in the Municipalities Ordinance [New Version] and in the Planning and Building Law, 5725-1965. In criminal matters, the Municipality's legal advisor and the Municipal prosecutors operate also under the authority of the Attorney General.
