​The marathon took place marking 50 years of the unification of the city. The full marathon winner (second consecutive year) is Shadrack Kipkogey, age 26, from Kenya, who finished the race in a time of 2:17:36. Mayor Barkat: "We broke the record of applicants coming from abroad in the 50th anniversary of the unification of the city - which is testimony to the power and prestige of the Jerusalem International Jerusalem Marathon Winner"

On (Friday) the seventh International Jerusalem Marathon Winner took place. More than 30,000 runners from about 60 countries around the world ran through a breathtaking route , by the Knesset, through the walls of the Old City, Sultan's Pool, Mishkenot, Shaaninm, Mount Zion, the German Colony, Rehavia, Talpiot promenade, Ammunition Hill, Sacher Mount Scopus, the Mount of Olives and other sites. More than 3,700 runners came from 60 different countries around the world, and the hotels in town were full to overflowing. About 10,000 hotel rooms were booked. Proceeds from the marathon will total $ 20 million ₪ to hotels and businesses.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, who ran the 10 km run  stressed that "the fact that the record of applicants from abroad broke during the year which celebrates the 50th anniversary of Unification of Jerusalem, is a testament to the power and prestige of the Jerusalem International Marathon Winner Jerusalem. It was a pleasure sharing the track with runners from around the world. This year thousands of Jerusalemites joined the marathon and many Jerusalem families enjoyed a family experience. We continue to prove to the world that there is nothing like Jerusalem and in the 50'th year of unification of the city, the city is more attractive and attracting more tourists from Israel and abroad. See you at the eighth Jerusalem marathon will take place on 09.03.18 ".

The winner of the full  marathon is from Kenya, Shadrack Kipkogey, reaching the finish line at the time of 2:17:36. Second place went to Wendwesen Tilahun Damte from Ethiopia finishing time of 2:20:47. In the third place was Mathew Kibiwott Sang of Kenya at the time of 2:21:25.

Among women first place from Kenya, Emily Chepkemoi time of 2:49:25. In second place came Merci Too from Kenya at the time of 2:57:44. In third place came Yaara Zengi-Rdositzki time of 3:11:15.
The first Israeli to finish the marathon is Fanta Gaztz'o which came at a time of 2:47:47. The first Israeli woman to finish the marathon is Ya'ara Zengi-Rdositzki which came at a time of 3:11:15.


The Winner in the Winner Marathon 2017

International Jerusalem Winner Marathon had six heats: full marathon race (42.195 km), half marathon race (21.1 km), 10 km Race, 5 km Race and a families race of 1.7 km. The Jerusalem Winner Marathon is the largest social marathon in the country. There is also a special 800 meters. Around 6,000 runners, ran for the benefit of different social organizations..
The first place of the full marathon won an amount of $ 3,750, second place won an amount of $ 2,500 and third place received an amount of $ 1,250.
