In honor of the opening of the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of Jerusalem, Jerusalem Municipality has produced through "Kaveret" company, the video "Voices of Jerusalem": a special combination of a variety of voices and people in Jerusalem. The people describe Jerusalem through their eyes and what it represents from their personal angle. This is a unique visual of the city.
The Video work process was long and complicated, and began six months ago. 540 hours of photography throughout Jerusalem and 30 days of editing were concentrated into 2 and a half minutes that show Jerusalem a little differently.
During the year of 2017, all over the country, there will be celebrations of the 50 years of the unification of Jerusalem. The idea behind the celebrations was to express everything that has made Jerusalem in the last half century – the different people from all ends, the history and the architecture that you cannot find anywhere else in the country. The fact that anyone can find something they love and connect to it, the connection between the domestics and the tourists, the connection between the children, youth, young and the elderly. Everyone has a place in the city, the fact that the city has people of all religions and beliefs, despite everything, manage to live together in harmony. Also, there is an astonishing development in every field in recent years.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, said: "I was seven when Jerusalem was united, and did not understand in depth why the adults were crying with emotion. Fifty years later we celebrate Jerusalem – more openness than ever, developing, being built and always exciting. Everyone has a place in it and it belongs to everyone. The video brought the special and different voices emerging from the city, the glorious history, the vibrant present and the future that is being built, and above all - the human mosaic of Jerusalem that turns Jerusalem into a city like no other in the world ".
Adam Rubin, author of the video and the owner of the "Kaveret" company which produced the video for the municipality, added that "bringing a variety of stories of each and every one in Jerusalem is not a simple task. Creators, this was the main goal. Jerusalem is colorful and diverse. In two and a half minutes, we tried to show just a bit from all it has to offer.
