More than 80 statues of Lions have been placed around the city during this past year and have since become an inseparable part of its residents' and tourists daily routine.
They gazed at us in their different shapes and colors, they smiled, laughed, scowled, but above all, they added color and beauty to the city's streets.
The time to part has arrived, the Lion statues will be put up for auction, and the money earned will be donated to child welfare associations and organizations.
For your consideration, a picture of each Lion and the name of the artist that designed it can be found in the catalogue before you.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Lubinski Ltd., importers of Peugeot and Citroen in Israel, for their contribution to this project.
It would delight me to see you take part at this auction, especially knowing that your donation will be used to improve the welfare of children in need.
We would be happy to know that the Lion you have chosen, representing the symbol of Jerusalem, will become a part of your daily lives in the future.

We became involved in the Lion project due to the desire to help raise the morale of Jerusalem residents and all its visitors.
Our contribution has put a smile on the faces of residents, a real smile, a heartfelt smile, a smile of "joie de vivre", despite the difficult period which they, and all of Israel are currently experiencing.
Peugeot Israel, the lion of transportation, is also the symbol of Jerusalem, the Lion of Judah, which represents heroism and confidence.
I am certain that we have the strength to continue with fortitude and pride as we know how, in the best possible way.
I believe that a better future awaits is and we shall continue to be strong, united and cohesive, with much love, always striving for closeness, mutual respect, assisting our fellows, knowing how to receive and listen to one another.
I am moved by the artistic beauty in these Lions, created by the various artists, which have added so much to the beauty to our city.
I will conclude with a quote: "Do not fear Israel, do not fear…for are you not a young lion?"
