The Water and Sewage Corporation (Gihon) provides the
citys residents with water, plans and develops the water network necessary to meet
the needs of a developing city, and maintains and develops sewage and drainage networks
and the waste water purification facilities.
In 1997, the water network was expanded so that it will extend over
1,032 kilometers, while the sewage and drainage network will extend over 1,122 kilometers.

its environs in 1997 (based on budgetary proposals for that year):
